Being the youth of the country, its future resides in our hands. India is in an abject state because of our carelessness. So let’s make our nation a better place. Here are few points you as college students can do to contribute to your nation:
1. Educating the poor
Instead of wasting your weekends lying in the bed, get associated with an NGO or go to the nearby slum or village to teach the ones who are really willing to gain the education but are unable to due to the financial crisis. Because it is truly said, “future lies in the hands of young.”
2. Swacch Bharat
Having a packet of Lays and throwing its wrapper on the roadside! Sounds familiar? Stop spreading litter and complaining about it. Instead, when in a car, carry garbage bags with you or else keep the wrapper in your pocket and throw it when you find a dustbin. Also, stop your friends if they do so.
3. Plant trees and use biodegradables
You being a social animal, love to get clicked in the midst of forests or nature but do not forget to maintain a small garden at your home. If not a garden, try to plant one or two trees in a vase. Switch to biodegradable stuff. When going to shop, carry your own cloth bag. Avoid the usage of plastic and other non-biodegradables.
4. Choose your leaders
Being newly classified as adults, don’t forget to give your opinion of who can make the country better by casting your precious vote instead of celebrating it as a holiday or going outstation for a picnic. Also, ask your family members to cast their vote.
5. Speak for your rights
Living in a country where bribe has become the solution to nearly everything, don’t indulge in corruption just to escape long queue or breaking a traffic rule.
Instead, try to stop it. When you see someone bribing, file a complaint. Make their video and post it on social media to gain attention to this important issue and to stop corruption.
6. Donate blood
Being grown ups and being able to donate blood, do not miss the chance to do this good deed. There are blood donation camps organized in every college, all you have do is to go there and donate your blood.
7. Stop brain drain
Living in a foreign country, maybe U.S.A. or Dubai sounds fancy but it’s high time we develop our own country. Stop brain drain and use your knowledge and skills to make your mother nation better. Implement your ideas and open your start ups here itself or work for Indian firms. Focus on the ‘Make in India’ concept.
8. Respect women
Make India a better place for women to live. When you see eve-teasing, don’t just stand and look at that like some statue, go and help the girl. File the complaint against it. You’re big enough to understand how this is a menace to Indian society.
9. Spread awareness
Being studying in college and being properly groomed, you are well aware of the pitiful condition of people without a single toilet in their village. Try to build one with the fund collected for charity in college or if not that, at least spread awareness to use public toilets in those places by going there on weekends maybe.
10. Respect equality
Being the leaders of tomorrow, stop casteism, racism and gender inequality. Say no to reservations in every field.
