To establish a connection it was necessary for the HTTP client to connect with the server. This connection that takes place over the internet is the ‘WWW’ that we easily type in now. We would have heard about the W3C, that sets the standards for WWW. He is the director of W3C and also the senior researcher at 3Com Founders Chair in MIT Computer Science and AI Laboratory. He holds the prestigious honor of Doctor of Science Degree presented by Harvard University in 2011

Larry Page is known by most people who use the internet. You can’t even imagine a day without being connected to Google. We are all dependent on Google for everything, to search your medicine purpose to find a coffee shop nearby. Sergey Brin was also a co founder of Google. It was founded in 1996 and since then, the world of internet has taken a giant leap.

Encyclopedia is now a term of the past, and the world is dependent on Wikipedia. The idea first popped in the mind of Jimmy Donal “Jimbo” Wales. He is the co-founder of the world’s largest Wikipedia. When you search the internet for a word, the first website is Wikipedia with all relevant information.

As popular is Facebook, so is its founder Mark Elliot Zuckerberg. Have you ever tried to find who else were involved in the finding of Facebook? The social media giant, was actually a University Project of mark and his friends, Dustin, Eduardo and Chris Hughes.

He is the CEO of Square, which is a mobile payments company. Now familiar? Well this one might be much more easier to relate. He is the creator of Twitter, the popular micro blogging website. WordPress has held on to its position since 2003 even after the release of several similar open source web platforms. Matt Mullenweg is the founder of WordPress which is currently managed nu The WordPress Foundation. You would be rather anxious to know more about him after knowing that he is a college dropout.
7. Steve Chen, Chad Hurley and Jawed Karim
After Facebook and Twitter, the next name that comes to your mind if YouTube. This was founded by Chad Hurley, Steve Chen and Jawed Karim in 2005. The first video was uploaded on April 23, 2005 by Jawed. The first office was in a garage as most other startup companies. In 2006, Google bought YouTube for US$1.65 billion.
8. Bram Cohen
Bram is a computer programmer and became popular with the BitTorrent file sharing protocol. He wanted to make it possible to easily download large files reducing the download time. The idea was first presented in the CodeCon conference and is still the most famous presentation of all time. People currently use BitTorrent for all legal and even illegal uses and Bram was asked to provide explanation many times.
9. David Filo and Jerry Yang
Before Google had taken over, Yahoo was the soul of the Internet in the 1990’s. David Filo and Jerry Yang were students while they created the search engine. They set up the domain Yahoo.com in 1995.
10. Jack Ma
E Commerce has become very popular but way back in 1995, E commerce was not a good idea. Jack Ma started off his online entrepreneur career with the website China Yellow Pages that provided websites for Chinese companies. Alibaba was launched in 1999 with the help of 17 friends.
