You might be aware whether it’s a murder mystery, or an exorcism flick or some supernatural horror, horror movies always tend to terrify the heck out of you. Here is a list of my favorite top 5 horror movies which are worth a shot and will leave you sweaty in the blanket under which you are trying to hide safely.
1. The Exorcist
This movie was released in 1973 and was ranked the scariest movies of all time. This is by far, the best piece in this genre. It is about a 12-year-old girl who is possessed by a demonic entity and how the priests and her mother try to bring her back through exorcism. This movie surely sends chills down the spine!
A 1978 movie directed by John Carpenter which was re-released in 2012. It was one of the first horror films to introduce the concept of the killer dying and coming back to life again within the same film. Halloween was a huge success in the field of horror and also, it launched the career of actress Jamie Lee Curtis.
3. Rosemary’s Baby
Made in 1968, the movie is based on the novel of the same name, by Ira Levin. It shows the series of horror events faced by a couple who move to an apartment in New York city. Having a quite creepy theme song, the movie was a commercial success which earned $33 million on a budget of $3.2 million.
4. The Conjuring
Horror movies scare you more when you see a “based on a true story” tag on them. Based on a true story, the Conjuring, released in 2013, is a well-done horror flick. The movie is based on the disturbing events faced by the Perron family who move into a farmhouse, and guarantees to scare the shit out of you.
5. The Evil Dead
The Evil Dead was directed by Sam Raimi and was released in 1983. The movie revolves around the vacation of five college students who face the demonic chaos after they play a strange unknown audio tape. This movie was such a huge success that its legacy continued in its sequels, video games, comics, TV series, etc.
