Chapulines are the fried grasshoppers which are eaten in many parts of Mexico. They are crunchy, toasty and have a flavour almost like potato chips. Moreover, the amount of protein that it provides is much more than how disgusting it sounds.
Cuy is a breed of guinea pigs. They are so called in South America and are consumed in Ecuador, Bolivia, parts of Peru and other Andean regions of South America. This mammal has been a staple diet of Peru since 5000 years. You would be disrespecting the dish if you visit Peru and don’t taste Cuy.
6. Rocky Mountain Oysters
Rocky Mountain Oysters are basically bull testicles that were a popular delicacy amongst the cowboys and are still consumed in parts of Colorado. It is rich in vitamins, minerals, and proteins and here’s a fun fact! They are celebrated in the TESTICLE festival!.
Smalahove is a Norwegian dish made from boiled sheep’s head. It is mostly eaten before Christmas. Most people consider eating Smalahove to be repulsive but due to its repulsive image, tourists often consider eating this dish as a thrill.
